Grant is provided under the Technical Support/Child Survival project (9380500) to CHILDHOPE-USA to conduct a 2-day conference in Washington, DC, in November 1991 for USAID and PVO representatives on ways to provide health services to low-income street girls and adolescent women in developing country cities.

Abstract
The conference, which will be attended by 10 representatives from USAID, 30 from U.S.-based PVO"s, and 5 from developing country PVO"s, will consist of the following sessions: (1) an opening session presenting the results of studies on the health risks and needs of street girls and women; (2) case studies from indigenous PVO"s, such as Kenya"s Undugu Society and Brazil"s Casa de Passagem, that are currently working with street girls and adolescent women; (3) responses and suggestions from representatives of the child survival/maternal health community regarding their work on behalf of street women; and (4) working groups, divided by topic or geographical interest, to formulate strategies and recommendations for including street girls in child survival and maternal health programs. Following the conference, CHILDHOPE-USA will meet with representatives of local PVO"s to plan future research and demonstration projects.
