Abstract
The program's Fiscal Year 2015 activities focused on expanding and strengthening Outreach Centers (OCs) in Honduras. AJH-USAID received a notification from USAID to increase program funding, and in response, a work plan, budget, and Performance Monitoring Plan (PMP) were developed and approved. The work plan included activities to be co-funded through a contribution of approximately US$2,000,000.00 from the Government of Honduras. Modification Number 6 to the Cooperative Agreement was signed on July 15, 2015, adding US$3,000,000.00 and extending the AJH program to December 31, 2016. Eight OC inaugurations were held throughout the fiscal year, attended by prominent authorities, US Embassy, USAID, and community members. These inaugurations included the Suyapa Outreach Center in San Pedro Sula, 11 de Abril OC in Choloma, La Melgar OC in La Ceiba, and others. AJH-USAID processed and submitted 55 grant proposals to USAID and/or the Deputy Minister of Prevention, totaling US$276,200.00. The program organized and/or participated in several events, including a photographic exhibit showcasing violence prevention efforts in Honduras, and meetings with USAID officials and the Government of Honduras. The OC network operation marked a new stage in continuous quality improvements, with 74% of evaluated OCs certified as "5 Stars" and 26% as "4 Stars" in the September 2015 evaluation. AJH-USAID's "5 Star OC" Quality Certification evaluation was held twice during the fiscal year, with 39 OCs evaluated in November 2014 and 42 OCs evaluated in September 2015. The program's intermediate results include expanding and strengthening the OC network, transferring OC methodology and technical coordination to FUNADEH and other local organizations, and implementing advocacy and activities programs for violence prevention. The program's indicators and results include the number of new and improved activities and methodologies introduced and implemented at the OCs, the number of new communities selected and assessed, and the percentage of OCs achieving a high degree of sustainability. AJH-USAID's activities and results demonstrate the program's commitment to reducing community vulnerability to crime and violence risk factors through sustainable community institutions that support local youth and crime prevention activities. The program's efforts to expand and strengthen the OC network, transfer OC methodology and technical coordination, and implement advocacy and activities programs for violence prevention contribute to the CARSI Goal of Strong and Resilient Communities Resist and Prevent Crime And Violence.
