Abstract
The project targets youth in four priority districts and focuses on providing Technical & Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to meet the demands of the labor market. In its third year of implementation, the project is working closely with manufacturing, services, and agriculture sectors to identify the most demanded trades and provide recommendations to major training providers. The PYWD project has developed strong working relations with all stakeholders, including partnerships with strategic TVET sector training providers and local stakeholders. Enrollments of marginalized youth in demand-driven trades have expanded, and on-the-job training with the apprenticeship model has been made available to selected youth beneficiaries. Facilities upgradation has been completed for 20 institutes, and capacity building of 77 instructors has been accomplished. A trade-wise gap analysis was conducted, and institute-specific capacity building plans were developed and are now being implemented in the 22 training institutes. The project's focus on TVET is crucial in addressing the region's high rates of unemployment. TVET is essential for preparing youth for the labor market, and the PYWD project is working to ensure that training providers offer trades that meet industrial demand. The project is also supporting the design of customized training packages to meet industrial demand and updating occupational standards to ensure that training is relevant and effective. In its third year, the project aims to aggressively expand its reach and impact by continuing to work with manufacturing, services, and agriculture sectors to identify the most demanded trades. The project will also continue to support training providers in updating occupational standards and designing customized training packages. Additionally, the project will focus on expanding enrollments of marginalized youth in demand-driven trades and providing on-the-job training with the apprenticeship model.
