Abstract
The project's primary objective is to support the integration of climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction into national-level policy and coordination. The project's work plan for Year 1 is organized into five key tasks. Task 1 focuses on integrating climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction into national-level policy and coordination. This involves supporting the national-level implementation of the RAN-API and the integration of CCA and DRR into annual work plans of government ministries. The project also aims to develop national-level tools, guidelines, analyses, and other knowledge products that facilitate mainstreaming of CCA and DRR. Task 2 targets subnational government and community resilience to climate change and weather-related natural disasters. This involves integrating CCA and DRR into local governance processes, building local capacity to support vulnerability/risk assessments, and strengthening landscape-level CCA and DRR mechanisms. The project also aims to improve provincial and district disaster response capacity and implement sustainable community-level CCA and DRR measures. Task 3 focuses on strengthening targeted climate and weather information services. This involves conducting CWI stakeholder consultations at all levels and developing a roadmap for CWI. The project also aims to build capacity of CWI producers, communicators, and users to develop, disseminate, and apply climate and weather data. Task 4 targets awareness and capacity development for the private sector. This involves engaging and enhancing cooperation with relevant business associations, developing or strengthening forums, tools, and analyses to improve private sector understanding and integration of climate and disaster risks into plans and operations, and engaging private sector actors to promote awareness and build resilience among companies and communities in targeted districts/landscapes. Task 5 focuses on project coordination and documentation. This involves developing and disseminating models on the successful integration of local and national strategies for CCA and DRR mainstreaming, facilitating broader coordination and collaboration, and strengthening the capacity of other USG organizations including USAID projects to mainstream DRR and CCA. The project management plan outlines the general project management approach, including the management plan, national office, regional offices, and planned general project management activities. The project also has a resilience fund, which is used to support activities that enhance climate change resilience and disaster risk reduction. The project's gender strategy aims to promote gender equality and address the needs of women and girls in the project's activities. The project also has a communications, outreach, and knowledge management strategy, which involves knowledge dissemination, knowledge capture, and capturing tacit knowledge.
