Abstract
The project's main objective is to empower rural citizens to function as effective partners with the public and private sectors. CDLO's senior technical staff and field personnel continuously evaluate and fine-tune the program's overall strategy for sustainable territorial development. Throughout Fiscal Year 2018, CDLO implemented various interventions to achieve its objectives. The project focused on three main areas: regional status, detailed list of approved activities, and status of overall activity progress. In the regional status section, CDLO reported on the progress of its activities in different departments, including Antioquia, Caquetá, Cauca, Cordoba, Guaviare, Meta, Nariño, Norte de Santander, and Putumayo. CDLO's interventions aimed to promote rural development, reduce illicit crop production, and improve the livelihoods of rural communities. The project worked with local stakeholders, including community-based organizations, non-governmental organizations, and government agencies, to implement its activities. CDLO also conducted territorial mapping, baseline studies, and analysis of territorial security considerations to inform its programming. Despite the challenges posed by the transition of national administrations in Colombia and the release of the 2017 United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime report, which showed a 17% increase in coca cultivation, CDLO continued to make progress towards its objectives. The project's focus on incorporating local assets, creativity, and innovation into its activity development strategies has enabled it to move towards territorial transformation. CDLO's strategy combines ongoing traditional rural development aspects with products and processes of non-traditional rural development. The project's emerging focus on territorial transformation aims to address the unique territorial dynamics of population behavior, social and technological changes, and the role of young people, women, and vulnerable populations. The project's senior technical staff and field personnel have continuously evaluated and fine-tuned the program's overall strategy for sustainable territorial development. Strategic adjustments have taken into consideration lessons learned from previous interventions, detailed territorial mapping, baseline studies, careful analysis of territorial security considerations, characteristics, and peculiarities during activity development. CDLO's interventions have resulted in significant progress towards its objectives. The project has made strides in promoting rural development, reducing illicit crop production, and improving the livelihoods of rural communities. CDLO's focus on incorporating local assets, creativity, and innovation into its activity development strategies has enabled it to move towards territorial transformation.
