Abstract
Traditionally, local governments have viewed women as passive beneficiaries of social programs, and IDP women have faced significant challenges due to their displacement. As a result, CIMIENTOS has supported the Association of Women Heads of Household Displaced by Violence in the Atlantic Coast and Colombia, aiming to promote the political participation of women and bring forward their needs in public forums. The program allows displaced women to be recognized as active beneficiaries of public policy and social programs by participating in various activities. These include workshops promoting participation in public policy, helping women regain self-esteem, creating a life plan for their families under new circumstances, active social participation, and creation of action plans to influence public agendas. The program's goal is to empower women and enable them to become stronger community leaders. During August, CIMIENTOS facilitated workshops for the women of ASOMUDFAVIC, where positive experiences were shared, allowing women to be recognized as citizens with ideas, capacities, and talent. One participant, Claudia Muñoz from Ovejas, expressed that after participating in the workshop for self-esteem, she found the confidence to look for a job and successfully found one. This activity is part of CIMIENTOS' work to strengthen IDP organizations and the return process of displaced people. The program's impact is evident in the increased confidence and self-esteem of the women involved. By participating in the workshops and activities, they are able to regain control of their lives and become more active in their communities. The program's focus on empowering women is crucial in addressing the challenges faced by IDP women in the Montes de Maria Region. The ASOMUDFAVIC program is a critical initiative in promoting the political participation of women and addressing the needs of IDP women in the region. By providing a platform for women to share their experiences and create action plans, the program is helping to strengthen IDP organizations and facilitate the return process of displaced people. The program's success is evident in the increased confidence and self-esteem of the women involved, and its impact will continue to be felt in the communities of Montes de Maria Region.
