Abstract
The program partners with 67 organizations in 38 countries, supporting them to improve gender equality and business performance outcomes through organizational change management interventions throughout the Engendering Industries Employee Life Cycle (ELC). Customized best practices, demand-driven coaching, specialized training programs, and the Intensive and Accelerated Programs build the capacity of organizational leaders to implement gender equality interventions. The program's foundational tool, Delivering Gender Equality: A Best Practices Framework for Male-Dominated Industries (BPF), is updated annually with new resources, best practices, tools, and information to support partners in advancing gender equality. In FY23, seven new best practices were added to the BPF, and a version 4 was published in English and Spanish. A new digitized BPF and pre-assessment tool were also developed, to be launched on the EngenderingIndustries.org website. The Intensive Program, which supports partners to implement their gender action plans and related interventions, continued in FY23. Change management coaching was provided to Intensive Program partners, and they were also supported to develop sustainability plans for sustaining and expanding gender interventions within their companies. The Accelerated Program, which delivers training courses and provides coaching to participating organizations, was also implemented in FY23. Two institutional partners implemented their second Accelerated Program in March and August 2023. Tailored change management coaching was provided to 67 program partners in FY23, including in-person coaching trips to Intensive and Accelerated Program partners. Coaching activities also supported men's engagement interventions, SEE Change trainings, grant implementation, and GBV trainings. A select subset of Accelerated Program partners transitioned into the Intensive Program, receiving a longer duration of coaching, including in-person coaching trips. Men's engagement activities were also implemented in FY23 to advance gender equality. Engendering Industries delivered two Engaging Men for Gender Equality Trainings of Trainers and two Engaging Men for Gender Equality Advanced Trainings of Trainers. The Engaging Men for Gender Equality training manual was published, and a webinar was co-hosted with Equimundo about monitoring and evaluating men's engagement interventions. Ongoing technical support was provided to partners to implement their men's engagement action plans. Gender-based violence (GBV) support was also provided to partners in FY23, primarily through coaching and policy development. Engendering Industries supported partners to implement survivor-centered approaches to workplace sexual harassment and other forms of GBV. The program also collaborated with Power Africa to support gender activities, including implementing activities through the Women in African Power (WiAP) Network. The Partner Support Fund, which awards grants to partners to achieve their strategic gender equality goals, was also implemented in FY23. The fund supported partners to implement their gender action plans and related interventions, and to develop sustainability plans for sustaining and expanding gender interventions within their companies.
