Abstract
EI partners with 67 organizations in 38 countries, including 46 organizations across 30 countries in its Intensive Program (IP) and 32 organizations across 22 countries through its Accelerated Program (AP). EI supports partners to improve gender equality and business performance outcomes by implementing organizational change management interventions throughout the employee life cycle (ELC). Through customized best practices, demand-driven coaching, specialized training programs, and an Intensive and Accelerated Program, EI builds the capacity of organizational leaders to implement gender equality interventions in their organizations. In addition to implementing the Intensive and Accelerated Programs, EI partners with Johns Hopkins University (JHU) to implement the Self-Empowerment and Equity for Change (SEE Change) Initiative and Equimundo (formerly Promundo) to implement an intensive men's engagement training program. EI also provides survivor-centered gender-based violence (GBV) prevention and response trainings to its partners and collaborates with Power Africa to support gender activities, including managing the Women in African Power (WiAP) Network. Finally, EI implements a Partner Support Fund that awards grants to partners to achieve their strategic gender equality goals. In FY23 Q3, Cohort 1-4 partners continued receiving demand-driven coaching support from their Change Management Coaches (CMCs). CMCs also supported the Intensive Program partners with ad-hoc requests to implement interventions, support program components, and develop sustainability plans. The University of Los Andes completed its first independent delivery of the Accelerated Program training in May 2023. KenGen continued planning for its first independent delivery of the Program in July 2023. Lagos Business School is currently in the planning stages for its next delivery. The Accelerated Program in-person training portion was hosted in Istanbul, Turkey, for 30 participants from 10 organizations and four industries. This training focused on companies working in the renewable energy sector. CMCs continued providing virtual on-demand and in-person coaching support to Cohorts 1-4 Intensive Program partners. CMCs also provided in-person support during Men's Engagement training activities, GBV trainings, grant activities, as well as data collection for MEL and Communications. Eleven partners from the Intensive Program sent personnel to participate in the Accelerated Program to generate additional buy-in at their respective companies and increase the knowledge and technical skills of key stakeholders who will be engaged in gender equity initiatives following their course participation. CMCs are supporting the additional participants to create Gender Equality Action Plans that build on the capstone projects developed during the Intensive Program or other strategic initiatives and plans the companies already have in place. As EI approaches its final year, CMCs have begun to develop Sustainability Plans for both Intensive Program and Accelerated Program partners. The Intensive Program Partner Support Fund, which provides grant resources to assist partners in conducting activities outlined in their gender equality action plans, has completed its third and final round of grant funding and committed $746,625 in grants to 18 partners. Six active grants were implemented by partners during this quarter: Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen Kenya), Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD Philippines), Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC Kenya), Electricity Generation Company of Ghana (EGCG), and others.
