Abstract
The project aims to reduce unmet need by scaling up evidence-based practices to ensure that women and girls receive—and use—quality services through all stages of the reproductive lifecycle. Focusing on the promotion of global support for reduction of unmet need through the scale-up of evidence-based practices in FP/RH, E2A promotes gender equality, healthy FP/RH behaviors, and the development of compelling evidence for FP use in accordance with national and international guidance and frameworks. The project has been led by Pathfinder International, in partnership with ExpandNet, MSH, IntraHealth International, and PATH, under a nine-year Cooperative Agreement awarded on September 30, 2011. E2A's management team focused on strategic areas during the last three months of the project, including providing technical 'signposts' for future work, assuring the project's legacy, and implementing a project closeout process. The team worked in two areas that warrant continuation beyond the lifetime of the project: the development of a conceptual framework to guide the future work of the Method Choice Community of Practice (COP), and the advancement of couple-focused interventions. The Method Choice COP has been leading the development of a Contraceptive Choice Framework, which has been sufficiently developed and is ready to be released to the global FP community for consideration and comment. E2A's work in couple-focused interventions aimed to bring needed focus to this neglected intervention strategy, showing the effectiveness of couple-focused interventions and providing a theory of change with accompanying programmatic strategies. E2A implemented its existing legacy strategy by completing final products, reports, and tools with clear themes, messages, and channels to reach target audiences. The team undertook various communication, documentation, and dissemination activities that contributed to increased project visibility with a global audience. Platforms for these activities included the E2A blog and website, Pathfinder website, email publication blasts, technical documentation, and both external and internal events. During the quarter, E2A participated in several events, including ICFP's virtual events, USAID's monthly Youth PRH Meeting, and Shukhi Jibon's internal Pathfinder webinar on AYSRHR. E2A also held a quarterly Method Choice COP Technical Advisory Group Meeting and a webinar on Adolescent Family Planning and Sexual and Reproductive Health: A Health Systems Perspective. These events showcased E2A's contributions to the global FP/RH community and highlighted the project's legacy and impact. The project's geographic focus is global, with a focus on promoting gender equality, healthy FP/RH behaviors, and the development of compelling evidence for FP use in accordance with national and international guidance and frameworks. The project's timeframes are from 2011 to 2021, with a focus on the last three months of the project. Recommendations for future work include continuing to align managerial and technical efforts to disseminate evidence that points the international FP/RH communities in new directions for future research, programming, and policy.
