Abstract
The project focuses on the promotion of global support for reduction of unmet need through the scale-up of evidenced-based practices in FP/RH, promoting gender equality, healthy FP/RH behaviors, and the development of compelling evidence for FP use in accordance with national and international guidance and frameworks. The project is led by Pathfinder International, in partnership with ExpandNet, IntraHealth International, and PATH. This is the project's thirty-second performance monitoring report, covering the period July 1-September 30, 2019. Highlights from E2A Project Year 8 include increased global support for the use of FP/RH evidence-based practices. The project has strengthened and solidified its regional and global partnerships, collaborative mechanisms, and rolled out its legacy achievements. At the International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP), E2A organized and/or participated in a number of side-events, oral and panel presentations, and hosted an exhibition booth that successfully positioned E2A as a demonstrated leader in the FP sector and its staff as individual thought leaders. The Technical Assistance Resource Package (TARP) was officially launched at the ICFP. At the Women Deliver Conference, E2A hosted a side-event "What works: Using evidence from the world's largest family planning programs to reach global goals" with panelists from Advancing Partners & Communities Project, JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc; EngenderHealth; MCSP and E2A; moderated by the Executive Director, FP2020. Regionally, in West Africa, E2A worked with WAHO and IBP to disseminate TOSS at the 3rd annual ECOWAS WAHO Good Practice Forum. E2A co-hosted with MCSP a one-day FTP technical meeting titled "First-time Parents: New Insights and Opportunities for Family Planning." The meeting aimed to share knowledge and best practices on first-time parents and family planning, with a focus on the needs of first-time parents and the role of family planning in improving their health and well-being. The project's activities are focused on advancing global learning on FP/RH best practice implementation and systematic scale-up through dissemination and participation in global and regional fora. The project also aims to consolidate global thought leadership on, and application and documentation of systematic approaches to, scale-up. Additionally, the project seeks to expand method choice, with a focus on first-time parents, and advance thought leadership in strengthening and scaling up youth-friendly service delivery models. The project's geographic focus includes Nigeria, Niger, Tanzania, South Sudan, Burkina Faso, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The project's activities are implemented in partnership with local organizations, governments, and other stakeholders to ensure that the project's goals and objectives are met. The project's performance monitoring report provides an update on the project's progress and achievements during the period July 1-September 30, 2019.
