Abstract
The protocol outlines specific actions to be taken at each follow-up visit, which occur at 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months after starting Centchroman. At the 1st follow-up visit, which occurs 1 month after starting Centchroman, the client is asked if she is continuing to take the medication and is satisfied with its use. If the client responds affirmatively, she is encouraged to continue taking Centchroman and is reminded to take the pills twice a week on fixed days for the first 3 months and once a week on a fixed day from the 4th month onwards. The client is also advised on what to do in case of a missed pill and is encouraged to continue breastfeeding if applicable. If the client indicates that she is not satisfied or has discontinued Centchroman, the healthcare provider checks the reason for discontinuation and addresses the concern if possible. The client is then counseled on alternative family planning methods, and arrangements are made for the chosen method. The reason for discontinuation and the date of discontinuation are documented. At the 2nd follow-up visit, which occurs 3 months after starting Centchroman, the client is asked if she is continuing to take the medication and is satisfied with its use. If the client responds affirmatively, she is encouraged to continue taking Centchroman once a week from now on and to continue breastfeeding if applicable. The client is reminded of the importance of taking the pills on a fixed day and is advised on what to do in case of a missed pill. At the 3rd follow-up visit, which occurs 6 months after starting Centchroman, the client is asked if she is continuing to take the medication and is satisfied with its use. If the client responds affirmatively, she is encouraged to continue taking Centchroman until she no longer wants to conceive. The client is reminded of the importance of taking the pills on a fixed day and is advised on what to do in case of a missed pill. The client is also encouraged to continue breastfeeding if applicable and is given another 3 months' supply of pills. At each follow-up visit, the client is reminded of the importance of taking the pills on a fixed day and is advised on what to do in case of a missed pill. The client is also referred to the nearest health facility for any new health problems.
