Abstract
The project began in May 2015 and is set to conclude in May 2020. ICED II is implemented by Tetra Tech ES, Inc. and is supported by the Indonesian government. The project's geographic focus is on the provinces of Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) and Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT), where energy access is limited and the potential for renewable energy development is significant. ICED II's support for the Indonesian government's energy development efforts is guided by the Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS) and the Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC) to the Paris Agreement. ICED II's activities are centered on several key areas, including clean energy development, energy access, and energy efficiency. The project has supported the development of renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydro power, as well as the improvement of energy access in rural areas through the expansion of the grid and the development of mini-grids. ICED II has also worked to promote energy efficiency through the implementation of minimum energy performance standards (MEPS) and the development of energy-efficient technologies. One of the key achievements of ICED II is the development of a comprehensive energy plan for the provinces of NTB and NTT. The plan, which was developed in collaboration with the Indonesian government and other stakeholders, outlines a vision for the provinces' energy development and provides a roadmap for achieving the goals of the Nationally Determined Contribution. The plan includes targets for the development of renewable energy sources, the expansion of energy access, and the improvement of energy efficiency. ICED II has also supported the development of several renewable energy projects, including a 10-megawatt solar power plant in NTB and a 5-megawatt wind power plant in NTT. The project has also worked to improve the capacity of the Indonesian government to develop and implement policies and regulations related to clean energy development. In terms of results, ICED II has achieved significant progress in promoting clean energy development and improving energy access in the provinces of NTB and NTT. The project has supported the development of over 100 megawatts of renewable energy capacity, including solar, wind, and hydro power. ICED II has also improved energy access for over 10,000 households in rural areas, and has promoted energy efficiency through the implementation of MEPS and the development of energy-efficient technologies. Overall, ICED II has made significant contributions to the development of clean energy in Indonesia, and has helped to improve energy access and promote energy efficiency in the provinces of NTB and NTT. The project's achievements are a testament to the importance of international cooperation and support for clean energy development, and demonstrate the potential for USAID-funded initiatives to make a meaningful impact in the energy sector.
