Abstract
The program aims to enhance the capacity of Afghan engineers and improve the country's infrastructure development. AESP focuses on providing technical assistance and training to Afghan engineers, with a primary emphasis on building construction and maintenance. The program's objectives include improving the quality of construction projects, enhancing the skills of Afghan engineers, and promoting the use of local materials and labor. To achieve these goals, AESP has established a network of training centers and workshops across the country, offering courses in areas such as building design, construction management, and quality control. One of the key components of AESP is the Building Shop, which serves as a hub for training and technical assistance. The Building Shop provides hands-on training to Afghan engineers and technicians, focusing on practical skills such as carpentry, masonry, and electrical work. Additionally, the Building Shop offers technical support and guidance to construction projects, ensuring that they meet international standards and best practices. CP1, or Construction Project 1, is a flagship initiative under AESP, aimed at improving the quality of construction projects in Afghanistan. CP1 focuses on building construction, with a particular emphasis on schools, healthcare facilities, and other critical infrastructure. The program involves the design, construction, and maintenance of these facilities, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and community engagement. By improving the quality of construction projects, CP1 aims to enhance the overall development of Afghanistan's infrastructure and promote economic growth. The geographic focus of AESP is Afghanistan, with a primary emphasis on the country's urban and rural areas. The program's activities are concentrated in provinces such as Kabul, Herat, and Kandahar, where the need for infrastructure development is greatest. Through its training programs, technical assistance, and construction projects, AESP aims to contribute to Afghanistan's long-term development and stability.
