Abstract
The program aimed to provide educational assistance to students in Rwanda. The reporting period spanned from January 12, 2021, to April 12, 2021. During this period, 38 students received assistance, with 35 students in the BT3 program and 5 students in the BT3 C/EN-FR program. The students attended courses in various subjects, including mathematics, French, and Arabic. The courses were provided in both English and French, with 85% attendance recorded. The students received a stipend of 348 dollars, distributed over three months, with a receipt provided by the school and signed by the student. The stipend was disbursed to all 38 students accepted under the JET grant. The number of beneficiaries reached during this period was 38 students. The program's progress towards its milestones was as follows: 38 students were registered under the JET scholarship, and 38 students successfully completed their course. The grant activity was meeting the established goals and objectives, with the addition of 13 students to the program. However, the program faced challenges, including the cancellation of practical workshops due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The program also encountered difficulties in teaching electrotechnic workshops due to the lack of new desktops and the inability of some students to purchase laptops. The program planned to address these challenges by working on the old desktops and providing alternative solutions for students who could not afford laptops. The program also aimed to improve the grading system for online exams and to address the issue of discrimination faced by some students. The program's success story section was not applicable for this reporting period. However, the program planned to continue monitoring student progress and performance during the next reporting period. The planned activities included continuing online learning for all classes until the end of May, conducting final exams for all students with safety precautions, and making an orientation session for all 38 students to hear their feedback and suggestions.
