Abstract
The program began in April 2021 and is scheduled to conclude in October 2025. The program's primary focus is on pre-primary training, formative assessment training, literacy and numeracy training, social-emotional learning (SEL) and information and education (IE) training, and data-driven decision-making. During FY 2023, the program achieved significant progress in various areas. In pre-primary training, the program provided training to over 2,500 teachers and education officials, resulting in improved instructional practices and increased use of teaching and learning materials (TLMs). The program also strengthened continuous personal development (CPD) for teachers, with over 90% of participants reporting improved instructional practices. The program's literacy and numeracy training resulted in improved student outcomes, with a 27% increase in reading skills practice outside of school. The program also enhanced community engagement in supporting safe and inclusive learning environments, with over 80% of communities reporting increased support for these initiatives. The program's data-driven decision-making efforts led to improved data collection and utilization, with over 90% of local and regional governments reporting increased capacity to plan, budget, and implement curriculum. The program also strengthened capacity of local and regional governments to collect and utilize data to improve learning outcomes, with over 80% of governments reporting increased capacity. The program's cross-cutting activities included gender responsiveness, grants under contract, activity monitoring, evaluation, learning, and adapting, government relations, coordination with USAID and partners, coordination with development partners, and private-sector engagement. The program's finance and operations activities included procurement, finance, cost overruns, human resources, and administration. The program's achievements are reflected in the results framework, which outlines the program's key achievements and indicators.
