Abstract
The project began its activities in October 2013 and manages two major platforms: Agrilinks.org and Marketlinks.org. KDAD supports buy-ins from various USAID bureaus, including the Bureau for Food Security, the Bureau for Economic Growth, Education and Environment, and the Bureau for Policy, Planning and Learning. KDAD includes five portfolios to manage the tasks and activities of the project: Assessing and Learning (A&L), Communications, Knowledge Management (KM), Training, and Web. The project has continued to support learning and knowledge sharing for its clients and the food security community, while also planning for a six-month extension and preparing to transition activities to a new project starting in FY 2019. In FY 2018, KDAD maintained a steady tempo to match the ongoing needs of its main client, the Bureau for Food Security. The project delivered four Food Security and Agriculture Core courses, supported the Feed the Future Learning Agenda, and conducted various other tasks. KDAD also created an online final report and developed a supporting PDF document that summarizes its accomplishments. The project team has migrated the project wiki to a new platform to capture project learning and invested time in making sure digital document retrieval systems are in place to ensure easy access to critical and background documentation for the final transfer. KDAD received a funded six-month extension that will sustain project work through March 2019 and plans to design three additional training courses to help sustain capacity building. KDAD will also support the Bureau for Food Security as it restructures, designing and facilitating a Bureau-wide strategy retreat to gain agency support for the new vision and mission. The project is actively managing staffing and financial resources for continued operation and a smooth transition using the Task Management System and budget tracking. The Assessing and Learning Portfolio of KDAD has completed several tasks, including sharing network mapping and FTFMS sex-disaggregated data reporting analysis approaches at the American Evaluation Association annual meeting, conducting after action reviews for training events, and monitoring and reporting on key Agrilinks related metrics to inform content development and enhance user engagement. The project has also completed the synthesis of 75 food security related evaluations and highlighted lessons learned. KDAD has supported the Bureau for Food Security in analyzing FTFMS data from fiscal years 2014-2016 to assess completeness of sex-disaggregated data and reporting progress across the time period. The project has also supported BFS in conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis of FTFMS performance data to inform strategies and highlight lessons learned. KDAD has created a more precise and accurate method of measuring and tracking KDAD indicators, including a revised Performance Management Monitoring and Evaluation Plan (PMMEP).
