Abstract
The zones are defined by the country's geographical features, climate, and agricultural potential. The classification system is used to identify areas with similar livelihood opportunities and to inform development programs and policies. The Livelihood Zones are divided into 19 zones, each with distinct characteristics. Zone SO01-Guban Pastoral is located in the northwestern part of the country and is characterized by a dry climate and limited agricultural potential. This zone is primarily used for pastoral activities, with a focus on livestock production. Zone SO02-West Goli Pastoral is also located in the northwestern part of the country and is similar to Zone SO01-Guban Pastoral, with a focus on pastoral activities. Zone SO03-Northwestern Agropastoral is located in the northwestern part of the country and is characterized by a dry climate and moderate agricultural potential. This zone is used for both pastoral and agricultural activities, with a focus on crops such as sorghum and cowpeas.
