Guidelines for new members were also discussed, with a focus on integrating new participants into the consortium's activities. The operating modality of the WIO-C was reviewed, with an emphasis on streamlining processes and enhancing collaboration among member states. Formalization of technical support to the WIO Coastal Challenge was also a key agenda item, with the aim of strengthening conservation efforts in the region. Technical reports for submission to the Seventh meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Nairobi Convention were presented and discussed. These reports highlighted various initiatives and partnerships aimed at promoting marine conservation in the Western Indian Ocean. Specifically, the meeting touched on the Marine World Heritage in the Western Indian Ocean, the Ocean Health Index in the Western Indian Ocean, Mangrove for the Future, WIO-SAP, and Marine Science for Management: New Phase. New initiatives and partnerships were also explored, with a focus on enhancing regional cooperation and promoting sustainable development. The meeting concluded with a discussion on any other business, including WIO-C participation in the World Conservation Congress in South Korea. The meeting provided a platform for member states to share knowledge, coordinate efforts, and address common challenges in the conservation of coastal and marine ecosystems in the Western Indian Ocean.
