Abstract
This approach emphasizes collaboration among human, animal, and environmental health professionals to address complex health issues. The workshop, titled "Methods of Economic Evaluation and Financing for the Health Sector," was held from July 16 to 20, 2012, at the School of Public Health at the University of Kinshasa. The event brought together a diverse group of participants, including professors, researchers, and students from the School of Public Health, as well as experts from the Ministries of Agriculture and Health. The workshop was led by Edward Kutsoati, Ph.D., an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics at Tufts University. During the five-day workshop, participants shared experiences and learned from experts in the field of economic evaluation and financing for the health sector. The workshop was rated as invaluable by the participants, who appreciated the opportunity to learn together and exchange knowledge. The event also helped identify experts in the field of economic assessment and provided a platform for academic partners to discuss proposed reforms to improve the curriculum in the health economics program at the School of Public Health. The workshop was an important step towards promoting academic collaborations and knowledge sharing between the University of Kinshasa and Tufts University. The TUSK knowledge management system, developed by Tufts University, was also introduced to the participants, and its implementation at the University of Kinshasa was discussed. This system aims to promote academic collaborations and facilitate the sharing of knowledge and best practices among academic partners. The university twinning program and the workshop on economic evaluation and financing for the health sector demonstrate the importance of collaboration and knowledge sharing in addressing complex health issues in the DRC. By bringing together health professionals from different disciplines and sectors, the program aims to strengthen the capacity of academic institutions and improve the health outcomes of the population.
