The MLK Program in Colombia has been in operation since 2006, with the primary goal of preparing outstanding university students from ethnic minorities to become positive community leaders.

Abstract
The program is currently being implemented in five cities: Barranquilla, Cali, Cartagena, Medellín, and Quibdó, with the objective of graduating 120 fellows by the end of 2016. As of January to July 2016, 108 MLK fellows have achieved a B2 or C1 level according to the CEFR. In Barranquilla, the MLK fellows have made significant progress in the academic and leadership components of the program. By June 2016, 100% of the 23 active MLK recipients had reached the top three evaluation ranks (Excellent, Very Good, and Good) of the Intermediate English for Adults Program at Centro Cultural Colombo Americano. The average grade of MLK fellows in Barranquilla is 81.2, with 66% of the students achieving a grade of 80-89.9. The program has also seen a high level of commitment from the students, with many participating in leadership activities and community events. One of the notable achievements of the MLK Program in Barranquilla is the success of the 2016 MLK Conference, which was organized by the MLK fellows and attended by a significant number of attendees from the local intellectual community. The conference featured presentations on human rights in Colombia, social work, and cultural events.
