Abstract
The primary objectives of this training were to equip trainers with essential skills and knowledge to deliver effective training sessions to regional counterparts. The training aimed to develop approaches for training regional counterparts and prepare trainers to deliver essential training materials. Effective training requires careful consideration of various factors. Trainers must prioritize the learner's manager before the training, as they need to provide the learner with time, space, goals, and select the right people for training. The trainer's preparation before the training is also crucial, as it sets the tone for the entire session. The learner's manager after the training plays a vital role in reinforcing the training by giving the learner opportunities and resources to apply the skills learned. Experiential learning techniques are essential in training workshops. Involving participants in active learning experiences that incorporate their own experiences is critical. This approach allows trainees to develop their skills, receive immediate feedback, and participate in training exercises firsthand. The experiential learning model includes four elements: participation, reflection on the experience, generalization, and application of lessons learned. Trainers can employ various techniques to facilitate effective learning. Group exercises and reporting out, role-playing, and case studies are some of the techniques used to build skills and create motivation. The boomerang technique involves sending questions back to the group for discussion, while working in pairs and ice breakers help to clear minds and create a conducive learning environment. Organizing the day effectively is also crucial, with set ground rules, breaks, and clear communication about the training schedule. Trainers have a range of tools at their disposal to facilitate learning. PowerPoint presentations should be used with caution, while whiteboards, flip charts, colored paper, note cards, and colored markers are all useful tools for engaging trainees. The trainer's techniques and tool kit are essential for delivering effective training sessions that cater to the needs of regional counterparts.
