Abstract
The project aims to provide Karma Village with access to tap water by connecting the new water system to Abu Ushush Bulk Reservoir through the existing 8" pipeline on Road 60. The project scope of work includes the construction of a new Karma Elevated Reservoir with a capacity of 500m³, new main transmission pipelines, new distribution network pipelines, and new house connections. The project is being implemented by Arab Brothers Construction & Infrastructure Group (ABC) under the supervision of AECOM as the Construction Management Contractor (CMC). The project has a contract value of $2,693,673.87 and an original project duration of 315 calendar days. However, due to modifications, the project duration has been extended to 357 calendar days. The Safety Plan for the project was submitted to CMC on November 1, 2017, and was accepted on November 21, 2017. The plan includes measures to ensure compliance with safety and health requirements, and to prevent exposures that could cause injury, accidents, or negative environmental consequences. During the reporting period, various safety measures were taken, including providing personal protective equipment (PPE) to laborers and employees, conducting safety tool box meetings, and implementing safety measures during excavation, installation, and backfilling of pipelines and house connections. The project has made significant progress, with a total of 282 days elapsed since the start of construction. However, the actual percentage of completion is 52.28%, which is lower than the planned percentage of 74.31%. The project has also experienced some challenges, including a minor accident and a notice of unsafe conditions, which were addressed promptly by the contractor. The project has a total of 1,923 beneficiaries, and the construction of the new water system is expected to provide clean potable water to the residents of Karma Village at an affordable price. The project is also expected to improve the water service to meet future demand of the bulk customers. The project's key personnel include Mohammad Halayka as the Task Order Manager, Motasem Abu Rayyan as the Quality Control Manager, Ibrahim Nasser as the Safety & Environmental Compliance Officer, and Nidal Abu Arqoob as the Project Engineer. The project has also conducted various safety tool box meetings and has implemented safety measures to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with safety and health requirements. The project's progress is being monitored through various indicators, including the contract elapsed time, planned percentage of completion, actual percentage of completion, and float. The project's photos and annexes are also available for reference.
