Abstract
The project aims to provide a more reliable and frequent water supply to 70% of the Dura city population, which is approximately 27,723 people. The project scope of work includes the construction of a new Dura at-grade reservoir with a capacity of 2,000 m³, the construction of new main transmission pipelines, and the expansion of the Dura distribution network pipelines. The project is a direct continuation of the Abu Hilal Reservoir project implemented by USAID in 2010. The proposed new reservoir will allow PWA to provide water to almost all the neighborhoods of Dura city, despite the topographical challenges of the area. The project is expected to improve the daily lives of the Palestinians through improved infrastructure and strengthen the capacity of the Palestinian infrastructure sector. The project timeline began with the notice of award on September 28, 2017, and the notice to proceed on October 23, 2017. The start of construction was on December 4, 2017, and the original completion date was September 17, 2018. However, due to modifications, the modified completion date was extended to October 31, 2018. As of August 31, 2018, the contract elapsed time was 83.69%, and the actual percentage of completion was 63.50%. The project has a total contract value of $4,165,648.40, with an original BOQ price of $3,965,648.40 and an original day work amount of $200,000.00. The project duration was originally planned for 330 calendar days, but was modified to 374 calendar days due to changes in the scope of work. The project has a total of 27,723 beneficiaries, who are expected to benefit from the improved water supply. The project team consists of key personnel, including the Task Order Manager, Rabah Najajreh, the Quality Control Manager, Mohammad Abu Shkadem, and the Safety and Environmental Compliance Officer, Jameel Al Qaisi. The project engineers, Yousef Abu Alreesh and Imad Manasreh, are also part of the project team. The project is being implemented by Arab Brothers Construction & Infrastructure Group, with AECOM as the Construction Management Contractor. The project has made significant progress, with the construction of the new Dura at-grade reservoir and the expansion of the Dura distribution network pipelines. The project has also implemented safety measures, including safety tool box meetings and environmental compliance measures. The project team has also conducted community outreach and engagement activities to ensure that the project benefits the local community. The project has faced some challenges, including topographical challenges and equipment costs. However, the project team has worked to overcome these challenges and ensure that the project is completed on time and within budget. The project is expected to improve the daily lives of the Palestinians through improved infrastructure and strengthen the capacity of the Palestinian infrastructure sector.
