Abstract
The project will connect the new water system to Abu Ushush Bulk Reservoir through the existing 8” pipeline on Road 60. The construction of the new reservoir, new transmission pipeline, and new distribution network will connect the village to clean potable water in their homes for the first time. The project's objective is to provide Karma Village with a new water system, connecting the village to clean potable water at an affordable price for people who never had access to clean potable water. The project will also allow the Palestinian Water Authority to improve water service to meet future demand of the bulk customers. The project's scope of work includes the construction of a new Karma Elevated Reservoir with a capacity of 500m³, construction of new Karma Main Transmission Pipelines, approximately 0.30 km, construction of new Karma Distribution Network Pipelines, approximately 8.00 km, and construction of new Karma House Connections, 370 units. The project is located in Karma Village, Hebron Governorate, and is owned by the Palestinian Water Authority. The donor and client is the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The contract was awarded to Arab Brothers Construction & Infrastructure Group (ABC) on August 31, 2017, and the notice to proceed was issued on October 23, 2017. The project's safety status is currently under review. The safety plan was submitted to the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) on November 1, 2017, and was accepted on November 21, 2017. The safety plan includes measures to ensure compliance with safety and health requirements, assist project personnel in planning, organizing, and implementing corrective measures to prevent exposures that could cause injury, accidents, or negative environmental consequences. During the reporting period, the following safety measures were taken: providing all required personal protective equipment (PPE) to laborers and employees, conducting safety tool box meetings, providing first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and emergency numbers at the site, checking on all equipment and performing regular maintenance, and implementing safety measures during pipelines and house excavation, installation, and backfilling. The project's progress is currently 60.83% complete, with a planned completion date of October 31, 2018. The project's key personnel include the Task Order Manager, Quality Control Manager, Safety and Environmental Compliance Officer, and Project Engineer. The project has experienced one minor accident and one Notice of Unsafe Conditions (NUC) up to this reporting period. However, no accidents or NUCs were reported during this reporting period. A total of 31 Safety Tool Box Meetings (STBM) were conducted up to this reporting period, with three STBMs conducted during this reporting period. The project's budget is $2,693,673.87, with a modified budget of $2,462,396.70. The project's duration is 374 calendar days, with a planned completion date of October 31, 2018.
