Abstract
The project aims to improve access to safe and reliable water supply for the local population. The project is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through the Water and Sanitation Program (WSP) of the World Bank. The project scope includes the rehabilitation of the existing NDGLP water treatment plant, construction of new facilities, and construction of new transmission mains. The construction of new facilities includes the construction of a new IDTTXD water treatment plant and a new IDTTXD water storage facility. The construction of new transmission mains includes the construction of a new transmission main from the NDGLP water treatment plant to the ELW 4DG water distribution network. The project is being implemented by The Morganti Group, Inc. under Task Order No. AID-294-TO-15-00002. The project team is led by Moh'd El Wahsh, Task Order Manager, and includes Nidal Maraziq, Quality Control Manager, Mohammad Abu Tammam, Safety and Environmental Compliance Officer, Khaled Althwaib, Surveyor, Dharmaraj Jayavel, Certified Welding Inspector, and Ata Mayyaleh, Certified Welding Inspector. The project has made significant progress in the reporting period, with a total of 1,457.5 meters of transmission mains constructed, and 2,500 meters of water distribution pipes laid. The project team has also completed the construction of the new IDTTXD water treatment plant and the new IDTTXD water storage facility. The project has also achieved a significant reduction in water losses, with a reduction of 20% in the reporting period. The project team has also conducted regular safety and environmental inspections, and has implemented measures to minimize the impact of the project on the local environment. The project team has also conducted regular community outreach and engagement activities, and has established a community liaison committee to ensure that the project is implemented in a transparent and participatory manner. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2017, and is expected to benefit over 100,000 people in the Jenin Governorate.
