Abstract
The project is being implemented by APCO/ArCon under a contract with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The project's primary objective is to improve the road network in the region, enhancing connectivity and accessibility for local communities. The project consists of three main components: Project 01 - Sinjil Main Entrance Road, Project 02 - Wadi Al Balat Road, and Project 03 - Kharbatha Bani Harith-Ein Ayoub Road. Each project involves the reconstruction and rehabilitation of existing roads, including excavation works, embankment filling, pavement layer construction, and the installation of storm water drainage systems and safety features. Project 01, located in Ramallah District, involves the reconstruction of 1.48 km of Sinjil main road and the widening of 0.386 km of Highway 60. The project's scope includes the installation of safety features, such as signage, road marking, cat eyes, and guardrails. The project's start date was January 4, 2014, and the contractual period of performance was 240 calendar days. However, due to modifications, the project's end date was extended to July 11, 2015. Project 02, also located in Ramallah District, involves the reconstruction of an existing 1.68 km two-lane roadway that links Ramallah with North Governorates. The project's scope includes the installation of safety features and the rehabilitation of storm water drainage systems. The project's start date was January 14, 2014, and the contractual period of performance was 240 calendar days. However, due to modifications, the project's end date was extended to October 7, 2014. Project 03, located in Ramallah Governorate, involves the rehabilitation of a 2.2 km two-lane roadway that links the town of Kharbatha Bani Hareth with the community of Ein Ayoub. The project's scope includes the installation of safety features and the rehabilitation of storm water drainage systems. The project's start date was January 5, 2014, and the contractual period of performance was 240 calendar days. However, due to modifications, the project's end date was extended to August 11, 2014. During the reporting period, no accidents were reported, and zero Notices of Unsafe Condition (NUCs) were issued. Environmental mitigation plan measures, such as public and labor health and safety, dust control, olive trees relocation, and other measures, were implemented during this reporting period. Traffic control measures and coordination with relevant authorities were also implemented, including the submission of traffic plans to the Department of Civil Liaison (DCL) and the Ministry of Transportation (MAATZ). The project's progress is being monitored through various indicators, including the number of kilometers of transportation infrastructure constructed or repaired and the number of person-days of employment generated. The project's actual percentage of completion is 65.5%, which is in line with the planned percentage of completion. The project's estimated completion date is July 11, 2015.
