Abstract
The project is implemented by Pathfinder International and is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Department for International Development (DFID). In April 2016, the project conducted various activities to promote health service delivery. Behavioral Change Communication (BCC) training was provided to 56 Clinic Managers and Counselors from Surjer Hashi Clinics. The training focused on improving the quality of counseling services provided to clients. Mystery client visits were conducted in 16 Surjer Hashi clinics to assess the quality of counseling services. The project also conducted Health Fair events at different Surjer Hashi clinics across the country. The events aimed to raise awareness about health-seeking practices and promote community involvement in health service delivery. A generic street drama was also performed to raise awareness about key health service delivery issues. The project's quarterly review meeting with NGOs MIS Officer was held on April 18-19, 2016. The meeting discussed various M&E issues related to the project and program. The meeting also oriented the NGOs MIS Officer about the updated version of the new database. The project also conducted advocacy meetings with government officials to improve coordination and collaboration. A meeting was held with Prof. (Dr.) Mohd. Noorul Huq, Director General, and Dr. Habib Abdullah Shohel, Director, PHC & LD-MNCAH, of DGHS. The meeting discussed improving MNCAH services from SH clinics with close government collaboration at national and local levels. The project's monthly statistical report for April 2016 contains indicators from Intermediate Result one (IR-1). The report shows that the total number of Couple Years of Protection (CYP) achieved in April 2016 was 123,318, a decrease of 4% from March 2016. The total number of service contacts in April 2016 was 3,318,653, a decrease of 5% from March 2016. The report also shows that the number of service contacts who qualify as poor decreased by 4% in April 2016 compared to March 2016. The total number of deliveries with a Skilled Birth Attendant (SBA) in April 2016 was 3,087, a decrease of 7% from March 2016. The total number of Ante Natal Care (ANC) visits in April 2016 was 150,151, a decrease of 3% from March 2016. The project's data shows that the number of facility deliveries decreased in April 2016 by 7% compared to March 2016. The number of ANC visits also decreased in April 2016 by 3% compared to March 2016. The project's data also shows that the number of service contacts to the poor decreased in April 2016 by 4% compared to March 2016. The project's data also shows that the number of ANC visits in April 2016 was 150,151, with 43,893 first visits and 27,380 fourth visits. The data also shows that the number of ANC visits in rural areas was 70,214, while in urban areas it was 79,937. The data also shows that the number of ANC visits in April 2016 was 47% in rural areas and 53% in urban areas. Overall, the project's data shows that there was a decrease in the number of CYP, service contacts, and ANC visits in April 2016 compared to March 2016. However, the project's data also shows that there was an increase in the number of facility deliveries and ANC visits in rural areas compared to urban areas.
