Abstract
The project is implemented by Pathfinder International and is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The project's key activities in August 2016 included the production and distribution of behavior change communication (BCC) materials, such as brochures, posters, and posters on BCC strategy and knowledge management. The materials were printed and distributed to 388 clinics and 25 NGO headquarters. The project also conducted 30 "Mystery Client" visits across the SH network to assess the quality of services provided. The project's clinical quality council meeting and workshop on the quality management system (QMS) was held on August 22, 2016, at the PSTC Training Center in Gauripur. The meeting was attended by 29 participants from NGOs, including monitoring officers and program directors. The meeting discussed better health service delivery, the revised QMS guideline, monitoring, new exit interview forms, family planning, and compliance visits, among other topics. The project's quarterly review meeting with NGOs' MISO was held on August 29, 2016, at the Summer Palace Hotel and Apartment in Dhaka. The meeting was attended by 27 MISOs from 25 NGOs, including two M&E personnel from Green Hill. The meeting discussed various M&E topics, including recording and reporting of ANC, PNC, pro-poor indicators, reporting of PBG indicators, M&E officers' roles and responsibilities, and new features of the M&E database. The project's coordination with the Government of Bangladesh (GoB) involved a visit by Mr. Biman Kumar Saha, Additional Secretary, MoHFW, and Chairperson, USAID-DFID NHSDP Advisory Committee, to Khulna and Noakhali clinics with local health and family planning officials. The visit aimed to instruct local authorities to issue DTC approval on time and ensure the supply of Govt. FP commodities and EPI vaccine to Surjer Hashi clinics without interruption. The project's performance indicators for August 2016 showed an increase in client years of protection (CYP) by 4.5% compared to July 2016, with a total of 131,975 CYP. The number of service contacts increased by 6.8% in August 2016 compared to July 2016, with a total of 3,632,508 service contacts. The proportion of service contacts who qualified as poor increased by 3.1% in August 2016 compared to July 2016, with a total of 1,538,686 service contacts qualifying as poor. The project's total deliveries (home and facility) by skilled birth attendants (SBA) increased by 16% in August 2016 compared to July 2016, with a total of 3,750 deliveries. The number of ANC visits increased by 9.4% in August 2016 compared to July 2016, with a total of 161,107 ANC visits. The project's overall performance indicators for August 2016 showed an increase in CYP, service contacts, and ANC visits, indicating improved health service delivery in Bangladesh.
