Abstract
The report contains key activities, performance summaries, and indicators for the project. The project's main purpose is to improve health service delivery in targeted communities, particularly for the poor. Key activities in October 2016 included developing a special day observation fact sheet on World Hand Washing Day, conducting mystery client visits to SH clinics, and attending a BCC working group meeting. The project also participated in the APHA conference at USA and presented an abstract on NHSDP project activities. The project's M&E capacity building training for NGO M&E officers was conducted in October 2016, with two batches of refresher training held in Jessore and Dhaka. The training aimed to enhance the capacity of NGO staff members in data collection, analysis, and information use of project data. The project's coordination with the Government of Bangladesh (GoB) involved signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Program Management & Monitoring Unit (PMMU) of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). The project also provided technical and vehicle support as per the instruction of USAID. The report presents performance summaries of key indicators, including the number of Couple Years of Protection (CYP), total service contacts, and percentage of service contacts who qualify as poor. The data shows that the total number of CYP has decreased by 2% in October 2016 from that of September 2016. However, the total number of service contacts has increased by 5% in October 2016 than that of September 2016. The report also presents data on safe deliveries, ANC visits, and ENC provided in October 2016. The data shows that the number of safe deliveries has increased by 8% in October 2016 than that of September 2016. The total number of ANC visits was 152,395 in October 2016, with 72,292 visits in rural areas and 80,103 visits in urban areas. The data also shows that ENC has increased by 0.3% in October 2016 than that of September 2016. The project's goal is to expand the client base, especially for the poor, for quality Essential Service Package (ESP). The data shows that the project has made progress in achieving this goal, with an increase in the number of service contacts and safe deliveries in October 2016 compared to September 2016. However, the project still faces challenges in increasing the number of CYP and ANC visits in rural areas. The project's coordination with the GoB is crucial for its success. The project has made significant progress in this area, with the signing of the MOU with PMMU and the provision of technical and vehicle support. The project's participation in the APHA conference and the presentation of an abstract on NHSDP project activities demonstrate its commitment to sharing knowledge and best practices in health service delivery. Overall, the report presents a positive picture of the project's progress in October 2016. However, the project still faces challenges in increasing the number of CYP and ANC visits in rural areas. The project's coordination with the GoB and its commitment to sharing knowledge and best practices are crucial for its success.
