Abstract
The project is implemented by Pathfinder International and is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Department of International Development (DFID). In February 2015, the project implemented several key activities, including a three-day workshop on gender policy development with the Surjer Hashi NGO, Swanirvar BD, and JTS. The workshop aimed to develop a participatory learning approach to finalize the gender policy by July 2015. Additionally, a draft assessment tool on 'Women & girl-centered services' was developed in both Bengali and English versions. The project also focused on family planning (FP) services, with a letter of collaboration (LOC) signed between RTM and NHSDP to provide LAPM services at SH clinics where services are not currently available. Information was gathered from all NGOs regarding their LAPM services to share with RTM for scheduling camps at SH clinics on LAPM in coordination with the NHSDP NGOs. Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health (ASRH) was another key area of focus, with the ANGEL Model implementation strategy shared with all NGOs for implementation at all SH clinics. The model focuses on unmarried adolescents in schools, newly married couples, and pregnant/first-time parents between the ages of 15-25 years in the community of the SH clinics. In terms of project visibility, the COP, NHSDP, chaired a panel on 'State of Maternal Health in South Asia: Moving beyond MMR' at the World Congress on Public Health, Kolkata, and performed a presentation on NHSDP Portfolio for women & girls: connecting community and facility. She also represented Bangladesh and made a presentation on Challenges, Strategies, and Policies in reduction of MMR in Bangladesh in the 'South Asia Conference on Maternal Health' in Kathmandu sponsored by Oxfam India. The project also coordinated with the Government of Bangladesh (GoB), with NHSDP communicating with Mo-Information, MoSW, and MoW&CA on the recommendation/decision provided by the inter-ministerial USAID-DFID NHSDP Advisory Committee 1st meeting. Due to effective advocacy with multiple ministries, MoSW and MoW&CA agreed to sign a LOC, and the Ministry of Information endorsed the meeting minutes of NHSDP Advisory committee 1st meeting and will ask the Directorate of Mass Communication to publish the SH clinic's BCC messages through Govt. existing mass media all over Bangladesh. The project's monthly statistical report contains indicators from Intermediate Result one (IR-1), which focuses on expanding the client base, especially for the poor, for quality ESP.
