Abstract
The conflict has resulted in significant displacement, with over 2.5 million people affected, and widespread poverty and food insecurity. The region is characterized by arid and semi-arid conditions, with limited access to basic services such as healthcare, education, and sanitation. The USAID/OFDA program in the region focuses on addressing the humanitarian needs of the affected population. The program is implemented in partnership with various partners, including the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). The program's objectives include providing emergency assistance, promoting economic recovery, and enhancing humanitarian coordination. In Darfur, the program has implemented various interventions, including the distribution of food vouchers, food vouchers for agriculture and livestock, and the provision of shelter and settlement assistance. The program has also supported the establishment of community-based initiatives, such as the Darfur-wide Livestock and Agriculture Development Program. This program aims to improve the livelihoods of farmers and herders through the provision of training, inputs, and inputs for livestock and agriculture. The program has also supported the establishment of humanitarian coordination and information management systems in the region. The program has also supported the provision of humanitarian air service, logistics and relief commodities, and mine risk education.
