Abstract
The goal of the activity is to sustainably increase the availability, access to, and consumption of animal-sourced foods through the development of a profitable market. This is achieved by implementing a Market Systems Development approach, focusing on two objectives: 1) Strengthen Private Sector-Led Value Chains and 2) Increase Demand for Animal-Sourced Foods Consumption for Women and Children. During the third quarter of the fourth year, Orora Wihaze continued to achieve scale program activities through a combination of deepening partnerships with existing activities and extending the reach with the launch of new ones. The team implemented a proactive learning agenda, making strategic decisions about ongoing partnerships and activity design to close the gap towards the intended objectives. Key results achieved during the quarter include: * 19,096 individuals participated in USG food security programs, including 16,843 new participants, bringing the cumulative total to 87,071 individuals as of the end of FY 23 Q3. * 65% of participating individuals were women, exceeding the Life of Activity target of 50%. * 40% of participants were youth, the highest indicator achievement since Activity inception, resulting from targeted efforts and intentional engagement of youth across all Orora Wihaze areas and activities. * Activity partners accessed loans amounting to USD 808,137 from financial institutions during the quarter, cumulatively accessing USD 2,944,913 in financing over the Life of Activity, significantly exceeding the target of USD 1,300,000. As the activity enters the fourth quarter of its final year, the team will focus on improvements across key interventions, identifying promising activities for scale up or scale down. This will involve strategic decisions about ongoing partnerships and activity design to further the Activity's success.
