Abstract
The project is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and is implemented in collaboration with DEVIDA. The project's main objective is to support the development of a Plan de Vida (Life Plan) for the Comunidad Nativa Boca del Kiatari, a native community located in the Peruvian Amazon. The Plan de Vida is a document that articulates the needs and interests of the community with the local institutions and governments. The Plan de Vida was developed through a participatory and reflexive process that involved the active participation of the community members. The process was led by the junta directiva (governing board) of the community, and it involved the use of various methodologies, including bibliographic review, data analysis, participatory workshops, and the application of instruments for collecting information. The Plan de Vida is composed of two main sections. The first section provides a historical overview of the community, including its origins, population growth, and economic activities. The second section presents the community's vision for its development, its objectives, and the strategies and activities that will be implemented in the coming years. The community's history dates back to the 1950s, when the first families arrived in the area. The community's name, Boca del Kiatari, is derived from the confluence of the Pogoa and Kiatakari rivers. The community has a rich cultural heritage, with a strong tradition of agriculture, hunting, and fishing. The community's economy is based on subsistence farming, with crops such as yuca, maize, and camote being the main staples. The community has a population of 417 people, living in 130 families. The community is organized into a governing board, which is responsible for making decisions and implementing projects. The community is affiliated with the Unión Asháninka Nomatsigenga del Valle de Pangoa – Kanuja, a regional organization that represents the interests of the Nomatsigenga people. The Plan de Vida identifies several challenges facing the community, including limited access to basic services such as healthcare and education. The community also faces environmental challenges, including deforestation and soil degradation. The Plan de Vida proposes several strategies to address these challenges, including the development of sustainable agriculture practices, the improvement of access to basic services, and the promotion of environmental conservation. The Plan de Vida is a critical document that outlines the community's vision for its development and its strategies for achieving that vision. It is a testament to the community's commitment to self-determination and its desire to take control of its own development. The Plan de Vida will serve as a guide for the community's development efforts, and it will help to ensure that the community's needs and interests are taken into account in the development of projects and programs. The community's vision for its development is centered on the idea of sustainable development, which is based on the principles of social, economic, and environmental sustainability. The community aims to develop its economy in a way that is sustainable and equitable, and that takes into account the needs of all members of the community. The community also aims to promote environmental conservation and to protect its natural resources. The community's objectives are to improve the quality of life of its members, to promote economic development, and to protect the environment. The community will achieve these objectives through the implementation of several strategies, including the development of sustainable agriculture practices, the improvement of access to basic services, and the promotion of environmental conservation. The community's plan for achieving its objectives is based on a participatory and inclusive approach, which involves the active participation of all members of the community. The community will work with local institutions and governments to develop and implement projects and programs that are aligned with its vision and objectives. The community's plan for achieving its objectives is based on several key strategies, including: * The development of sustainable agriculture practices, which will improve the community's food security and promote environmental conservation. * The improvement of access to basic services, such as healthcare and education, which will improve the quality of life of the community's members. * The promotion of environmental conservation, which will protect the community's natural resources and promote sustainable development. The community's plan for achieving its objectives is based on a long-term perspective, which involves the development of a 5-year plan that outlines the community's vision, objectives, and strategies for achieving its goals. The plan is based on a participatory and inclusive approach, which involves the active participation of all members of the community. The community's plan for achieving its objectives is based on several key indicators, including: * The improvement of the community's food security, which will be measured through the development of a food security index. * The improvement of access to basic services, which will be measured through the development
