Abstract
The community was initially formed by families with surnames such as Jerónimo, Shimate, Chumpate, Chanquete, and Quintimari, who dedicated themselves to farming and hunting. The community's name, San Juan de Sangareni, is derived from the river Sangareni, which runs along the community's border, and the celebration of Saint John's Day on June 2nd. The community has a total area of 1,167 hectares and 6,000 square meters, with a population of 58 families and 227 inhabitants. The community's history is marked by the formalization of its personería jurídica in 1989, granting it the rights and benefits of a recognized community. The community is affiliated with the Unión Asháninka Nomatsigenga del Valle de Pangoa – Kanuja, which was established on August 10, 1989. The community's culture is characterized by its traditional clothing, made from white and brown cotton, and its ancestral drink, masato. The community celebrates its anniversary on June 2nd with a parade, a confraternity tournament, and a traditional social festival. The community's economy is based on subsistence farming, with crops such as yuca, maize, camote, mahona, and pituca. The community's social development is marked by the presence of basic services, including healthcare, education, and infrastructure. However, the community faces challenges related to violence against women and children, which have not been reported in the community. The community's organizational structure is led by a junta directiva, which has played a key role in the community's development. The community's environmental conditions are characterized by a tropical climate, with soils and natural protected areas. The community's management of solid waste is a concern, with the need for proper disposal and recycling. The community's plan for development is centered on the vision of becoming a self-sufficient and sustainable community, with a focus on agriculture, education, and social development. The community's plan for development is outlined in the Matriz del plan de vida comunal, which includes the following objectives: * To increase the community's agricultural production and productivity * To improve the community's access to education and healthcare * To promote the community's cultural heritage and traditional practices * To develop the community's infrastructure and basic services * To promote the community's economic development and self-sufficiency The community's plan for development is based on a participatory and reflexive process, which has involved the active participation of community members. The plan is aligned with the community's vision and goals, and is expected to be implemented over the next few years.
