Abstract
The program focuses on education, water and sanitation, and health facilities. As of December 2012, the program has made significant progress in various districts, including Swat, Dir Lower, Dir Upper, and Buner. In the education sector, a total of 79 schools have been tendered, with work orders issued for 78 schools. Of these, 57 schools are currently under construction, while 21 schools have been completed. The main building of six schools has been completed, with works on the lower building and finishing items still in progress. However, work has been stopped at GGHSS Manglawar due to land sliding, and a site-specific module design has been prepared to resolve the issue. In the water and sanitation sector, 13 schemes have been approved in Buner District, including the development of eight existing capped tube wells and six new tube wells. Resistivity surveys have been conducted for three proposed tube wells, and drilling has begun on one of them. In Swat District, design and engineering drawings for 10 schemes, including the installation of 120 hand pumps, have been submitted for approval. In the health sector, work has continued at a slow pace on four fully damaged Basic Health Units (BHUs), with layout designs submitted for three of them. Repair and rehabilitation of 13 partially damaged BHUs have been reassessed, but work orders have not been issued yet. The Tehsil Complex in Kabal has submitted PC-I and milestones for approval, with a geotechnical investigation conducted through UET Peshawar. In the flood-damaged infrastructure reconstruction sector, the Kot Barang Road and Selai Patti Bridge in Bajaur Agency have seen significant progress. The foundation of the piers has been redesigned, and trials of concrete mix designs have been carried out. The reconstruction of the Khawaza Khela Bridge in Swat has been undertaken, with full-time staff deployed for monitoring and quality control tests. The revised design for the Mingora Bridge in Swat has been finalized, and a revised bill of quantities and milestones have been prepared. The restoration of the Munda Head works in Charsadda District has made progress, with concrete piers completed, and dismantling of existing piers and rehabilitation of the left abutment completed.
