Abstract
The program is organized into four major components, each with unique objectives and requiring a different mix of skills and resources. The program's work is delivered through a system of Country Implementation Plans, which are aligned with the three Pillars of the Power Africa Roadmap and Power Africa 2.0. The Country Implementation Plans are designed to provide a holistic approach to the program's objectives in each country. The program has made significant progress in the first quarter of FY 2019, with a total of 99,323 new grid and off-grid anticipated direct connections anticipated. However, the actual number of new connections was 160,247, exceeding the target of 133,300. The program has also recorded actual connections in excess of the FY 2019 target in several countries, including Angola, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and West Africa, with a total of 1,589,575 connections. The program has also added new projects to its portfolio, including small-scale renewable energy projects, mini-grids, and solar home systems. The Djibouti large-scale transactions have been added to the program after final approval for their addition to the Power Africa Tracking Tool (PATT). The program has also made significant progress in the area of generation capacity, with a total of 782.6 MW of generation capacity reached. The program has also recorded financial closure on several transactions, including the Djibouti large-scale transactions. The program's progress is summarized in Table 2-1, which shows the key indicators for the first quarter of FY 2019. The table shows that the program has exceeded the target for actual connections in several countries and has made significant progress in the area of generation capacity. The program's progress is also summarized in the narrative comments section, which provides a detailed description of the program's activities and achievements. The narrative comments section highlights the program's focus on increasing access to electricity in sub-Saharan Africa and its efforts to support the development of the power sector in the region. The program's progress is also supported by the data presented in the tables and figures, which show the program's achievements in terms of new connections, generation capacity, and financial closure. The data presented in the tables and figures provides a clear picture of the program's progress and achievements. The program's progress is also supported by the compliance with the IEE conditions, which is summarized in Appendix 1: Compliance with IEE Conditions. The appendix provides a detailed description of the program's compliance with the IEE conditions and highlights the program's efforts to ensure that its activities are environmentally and socially responsible. The program's progress is also supported by the strategy documents, which is summarized in Section 4: Strategy Documents. The section provides a detailed description of the program's strategy and highlights the program's efforts to support the development of the power sector in the region. Overall, the program's progress is significant, and the program has made substantial achievements in terms of increasing access to electricity in sub-Saharan Africa. The program's progress is supported by the data presented in the tables and figures, the narrative comments section, and the compliance with the IEE conditions and strategy documents. The program's progress is also supported by the Power Africa Tracking Tool (PATT), which is a web-based platform that provides real-time data on the program's activities and achievements. The PATT provides a detailed description of the program's progress and highlights the program's efforts to support the development of the power sector in the region. The program's progress is also supported by the Power Africa Roadmap and Power Africa 2.0, which are the program's guiding documents. The Roadmap and Power Africa 2.0 provide a detailed description of the program's objectives and highlight the program's efforts to support the development of the power sector in the region. The program's progress is also supported by the Country Implementation Plans, which are the program's guiding documents for each country.
