Abstract
The program is organized into four major components, each with unique characteristics and requiring a different mix of skills and resources. These components include institutional support to the Office of the Coordinator, late-stage transaction support, support for small-scale projects, mini-grids, and rural electrification, and regulatory and institutional strengthening and policy. The program's objectives and tasks are based on the Work Plan of April 2015, and all activities are being carried out under work orders agreed with the USAID Contracting Officer's Representative (COR). The work orders contain a scope of work, staffing plan, and budget. An updated list of work orders is provided, including support to PATA Coordinators Office, communications support, geothermal road show, private sector relationship management, and scoping missions to East and West Africa. Objective 1: Institutional Support to the Office of the Coordinator focuses on providing support to the Coordinator's Office, including communications support and private sector relationship management. Objective 2: Late-Stage Transaction Support involves providing late-stage transaction support to facilitate the development of power projects. Objective 3: Support for Small-Scale Projects, Mini-Grids, and Rural Electrification aims to support small-scale projects, mini-grids, and rural electrification initiatives. Objective 4: Regulatory and Institutional Strengthening and Policy focuses on regulatory and institutional strengthening and policy development, including electricity transmission and distribution, regional trade, and institutional strengthening of power pools. The program has made significant progress in the quarter, with several work orders completed or active. The geothermal road show was completed, and a scoping mission to East Africa Power Pool on placement of transaction advisor was also completed. Additionally, a workshop and assessment in Djibouti and a scoping mission to West Africa on placement of regional transaction advisor were completed. The program has also made progress in supporting small-scale projects, mini-grids, and rural electrification initiatives, including a study tour for Ghana private sector partner and a senior local energy advisor for Liberia. The program's performance indicators results are also presented, including the number of transactions being tracked, the number of work orders completed or active, and the number of staff members involved in the program. The program's environmental and social review methodology is also presented, which outlines the program's approach to environmental and social impact assessment and mitigation. Overall, the PATRP has made significant progress in the quarter, with several work orders completed or active, and the program continues to make progress in its objectives and tasks. The program's performance indicators results and environmental and social review methodology are also presented, providing a comprehensive overview of the program's progress and approach.
