Abstract
A key initiative in this effort is the development of a Judicial Manual, designed to improve communication between judges, litigants, citizens, and lawyers. The manual seeks to promote the use of clear and accessible language, thereby building trust in the justice system. The Judicial Manual is a practical guide for judges, providing specific advice and guidelines on how to improve the delivery and wording of notices issued during judicial proceedings. This includes promoting the use of common language that is easy to understand, thereby reducing confusion and ambiguity. The manual is a response to citizen requests for more transparent and user-friendly communication from the judiciary. The Judicial Branch is also implementing a new communication tool, with the support of USAID, to accompany the development of criminal proceedings. This tool is adaptable to various types of lawsuits and aims to provide timely information to citizens in a clear and accessible manner. The tool is designed to address the issue of unclear and confusing language used in communications issued by the judiciary, which can limit access to justice and generate distrust among citizens. The Peruvian judiciary is part of a broader movement to promote the use of simple, accurate, and straightforward language in the administration of justice. This movement aims to provide accuracy of technical terms and make the justice system more comprehensible to the common citizen. The Judicial Manual and the new communication tool are key components of this effort, which seeks to promote a more accessible, transparent, and efficient justice system. The implementation of the Judicial Manual and the new communication tool is part of the Judicial Branch's commitment to a more user-oriented process. The initiative is also aligned with the goals of President Mendoza's management, which include a more effective and efficient handling of criminal processes related to official corruption crimes. The use of clear and accessible language is seen as essential to achieving these goals and promoting a more transparent practice of judicial operators.
