Abstract
The first challenge, titled "Puentes Project," focuses on the issue of plastic waste and pollution in the community. The challenge begins with a scenario in which a young person, Ana, is concerned about the impact of plastic waste on the environment and decides to take action. Ana's concern is sparked by an article she reads about artists who use their work to raise awareness about plastic pollution in the oceans. She shares the article with her friend Juan and begins to investigate the issue further. The challenge encourages participants to explore the impact of plastic waste on their community, identify areas where plastic waste is a problem, and brainstorm ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle plastic waste. The challenge also introduces the concept of the "3R" approach to waste management, which involves reducing the amount of waste generated, reusing materials whenever possible, and recycling materials that cannot be reused. Participants are encouraged to apply the 3R approach in their own community and to come up with creative solutions to reduce plastic waste. The challenge includes a series of activities and tasks, including watching a video about the impact of plastic waste on marine life, researching the concept of "colores complementarios" (complementary colors) and armonía (harmony) in art, and brainstorming ideas for a campaign to raise awareness about plastic waste. Participants are also encouraged to create their own artwork using recycled materials and to share their work with others. The second challenge, titled "Graffiti," focuses on the issue of public art and the role of graffiti in urban spaces. The challenge begins with a scenario in which a group of young people notice that the wall of a local market is deteriorating and decide to take action. They use graffiti to express their creativity and leave their mark on the wall. The challenge encourages participants to explore the history and significance of graffiti, to research the work of famous graffiti artists, and to brainstorm ideas for their own graffiti project. Participants are also encouraged to consider the impact of their work on the community and to think critically about the role of public art in urban spaces. Throughout the challenges, participants are encouraged to work together, share their ideas and perspectives, and learn from one another. The challenges are designed to be flexible and adaptable, allowing participants to work at their own pace and to tailor the activities to their own interests and needs. The Punto Crea Learning Challenge Portfolio is a valuable resource for educators and community leaders who are looking for innovative and engaging ways to teach young people about important social and environmental issues. The challenges are designed to be fun and interactive, while also promoting critical thinking, creativity, and community engagement. The challenges are also aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 12, which focuses on responsible consumption and production. By participating in the challenges, young people can develop the skills and knowledge they need to become active citizens and to contribute to the creation of a more sustainable and equitable world. Overall, the Punto Crea Learning Challenge Portfolio is a valuable resource for anyone who is interested in promoting social and environmental learning among young people. The challenges are engaging, interactive, and aligned with the SDGs, making them an excellent choice for educators and community leaders who are looking for innovative and effective ways to teach young people about important social and environmental issues.
