Abstract
The project involves the development of the Waran Canal and the Gomal Zam Dam, which will provide irrigation facilities to farmers in the area. The project is being implemented by Halcrow Pakistan (Pvt) Limited, a consulting firm that specializes in infrastructure development. The project's scope of services includes monitoring and milestone verification, which involves tracking the progress of the project and ensuring that the contractor meets the required standards. The project team conducts regular site visits to verify the completion of certified milestones and monitors the current status of ongoing and completed activities. The team also supervises rectification works and ensures that the contractor completes the remaining works within the specified timeframe. During the reporting quarter, the project team conducted two field visits, one each to the Waran Canal and the Gomal Zam Dam Command Area Development Project. The team verified the completion of three certified milestones by WAPDA, including Payment Number 17, Payment Number 18 of Package F, and Payment Number 25 of Package G II. The team also monitored the current status of ongoing and completed activities on milestone Payment Number 15 of Package E. On the Gomal Zam Dam Command Area Development Project, the project team verified the completion of 10 FCR watercourses. The team shared a punch list in the wrap-up meeting and included it in the initial site visit report. The field teams of the Detail Design and Supervision Consultant supervised rectification works on 28 FCR watercourses visited in June 2019 and 10 FCR watercourses inspected in July 2019. The Project Implementation Unit shared an update on the A-E Contractor observations by the end of the reporting quarter, confirming that major rectification works were carried out and remaining will be completed during the defects remedying period of each watercourse. The project team also prepared and submitted Quarterly Progress Report No. 14 for the period (April-June 2019) for both Waran Canal and GZD-CADP. Initial Site Visit Reports were submitted for 28 FCRs, followed by detailed site visit reports. Similarly, initial and detailed site visit reports were submitted for the visit conducted from July 1-12, 2019, for verification of Waran Canal milestones payment number 17, 18, and 25. The project team has made significant progress in the reporting quarter, with major rectification works carried out on the Waran Canal and Gomal Zam Dam Command Area Development Project. The team has also ensured that the contractor completes the remaining works within the specified timeframe. The project is expected to be completed within the next quarter, with the clearance certificate for both invoices in the advance stage of issuance. The project has also made significant progress in terms of environmental compliance, with the team ensuring that the contractor meets the required standards. The team has also supervised rectification works and ensured that the contractor completes the remaining works within the specified timeframe.
