Abstract
The project is being implemented by Halcrow Pakistan, a consulting firm, in collaboration with the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) and the Frontier Works Organization (FWO). The project's progress during the second quarter of 2016 (April 1 to June 30) is summarized in this report. Two site visits were conducted to verify the completed milestones, with certified milestones including payment numbers 1, 3, 4, 6, and 12 of PIL-010. The physical progress achieved in the seven packages of the Waran Canal project is as follows: Package-A achieved 93% physical progress, Package-B achieved 70%, Package-C achieved 94%, Package-D was delayed due to litigation, Package-E achieved 21.6% physical progress, Package-F was delayed, and Package-G was delayed due to bid evaluation. A total of 5 out of 23 milestones have been completed, amounting to 26.34% of the work completion on the Waran Canal. Halcrow issued five certificates for completion of physical works on milestone 1, 3, 4, 6, and 12. In addition, a verification visit was conducted for the Final Milestone (Bench Mark 9) of the Gomal Zam Irrigation Project (GZIP) as per NESPAK Completion Report. The site observations were shared with WAPDA and FWO to initiate addressing the shared observations and update on the improvement works. The project's progress is also reflected in the certification of milestones and the submission of deliverables, including three number milestones certification, Quarterly Progress Report Number 1, and Minutes of meetings. The project's security updates indicate that there were no major crimes reported during the quarter. The staff during the quarter included professionals from Halcrow Pakistan, WAPDA, and FWO. The project's scope of services includes monitoring and milestone verification, environmental compliance, and health and safety management. The project's environmental compliance status is being monitored, and the health and safety management plan is being implemented.
