Abstract
The program is implemented by DAI Global, LLC, and is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The program's primary objective is to increase access to improved water sources and sanitation facilities, as well as promote hygiene practices among the population. The program is divided into four main components: improving household WASH services, strengthening city and district WASH institutional performance, strengthening the WASH financing environment, and advancing national WASH advocacy, coordination, and communication. The program also includes a USAID-SECO partnership and a local sustainability and innovation component (LSIC). In the January-March 2021 quarter, the program made significant progress in various regions of Indonesia. In North Sumatra, the program supported the establishment of a community-led total sanitation (CLTS) approach, which resulted in the construction of 15 new toilets and the improvement of 20 existing toilets. In West Java, DKI Jakarta, and Tangerang, the program implemented a WASH financing scheme, which provided funding for the construction of 50 new toilets and the improvement of 100 existing toilets. The program also made progress in Central Java, where it supported the establishment of a WASH financing scheme, which provided funding for the construction of 20 new toilets and the improvement of 50 existing toilets. In East Java, the program implemented a CLTS approach, which resulted in the construction of 10 new toilets and the improvement of 20 existing toilets. In addition to these regional progress, the program also made significant progress in improving household WASH services, strengthening city and district WASH institutional performance, and advancing national WASH advocacy, coordination, and communication. The program's efforts were also supported by a USAID-SECO partnership, which provided funding for the implementation of WASH projects in various regions of Indonesia. The program's progress was also reflected in the number of people who gained access to improved water sources and sanitation facilities. According to the program's data, a total of 1,234 households gained access to improved water sources, while 2,456 households gained access to improved sanitation facilities. The program's efforts also resulted in the improvement of hygiene practices among the population, with a total of 5,612 people practicing handwashing with soap. The program's progress was also reflected in the number of media outlets that covered its activities. According to the program's media monitoring analysis, a total of 12 media outlets covered the program's activities, with a total of 24 articles published. The program's activities were also broadcasted on its YouTube channel, which generated 144 views and 2.2K impressions. Overall, the USAID IUWASH PLUS program made significant progress in improving water, sanitation, and hygiene services in Indonesia during the January-March 2021 quarter.
