Abstract
The initiative, known as Alianza Crece, focuses on expanding the market for internet services and strengthening competencies in information technologies. Key indicators for the first quarter of 2020 show significant progress in achieving the program's objectives. In terms of internet services, Yachay Telecomunicaciones has mobilized $3.5 million in private investment to expand internet services in 101 priority localities. The number of paying internet customers has reached 88, with a total of 8,339 users accessing the internet in these localities. The program has also made notable strides in promoting financial inclusion. The value of new financial services mobilized has reached $8.563 million, with $8.402 million in credit and $160,992 in savings. The number of clients for loans and savings has increased to 5,803, with a significant proportion of women-headed households participating in the program. Training and capacity-building activities have been a key component of the program. A multicomponent training workshop was held in February, attended by digital and financial promoters, as well as telecenter administrators. The workshop aimed to reinforce strategies and methodologies for implementing activities, including new approaches and mechanisms for integration and coordination. Telecenter operations have been a key focus area for the program. As of the end of the first quarter, 37 out of 38 telecenters were operational, providing digital literacy training and internet access to 1,063 individuals, including 473 women and 590 men. The program has also established a plan for implementing internet services in priority localities, including the installation of hotspots and the launch of new services such as "Conectón Hogar" and "Conectón Móvil". The program's geographic focus is on 101 priority localities in Peru, with a strong emphasis on rural areas. The program's timeframes are aligned with the three-year cooperation agreement, with quarterly progress reports providing updates on key indicators and activities. Implementation of the program's objectives has been facilitated by the establishment of partnerships with various entities, including Yachay Telecomunicaciones, which provides technical assistance for the maintenance of telecenter equipment and connectivity. The program's success has been marked by significant progress in promoting digital inclusion and financial inclusion in Peru, with a strong focus on rural areas and women-headed households.
