Abstract
The primary objective of this project is to reduce the risk of bird flu transmission to humans and prevent economic losses associated with poultry production. The project focuses on improving biosecurity measures in poultry farms, enhancing surveillance and monitoring systems, and promoting public awareness about the risks and consequences of bird flu. Key interventions include the implementation of strict hygiene practices, vaccination programs, and the establishment of emergency response plans in case of outbreaks. One of the critical components of the project is the promotion of sustainable poultry production practices. This includes the adoption of best management practices, such as proper waste management, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by poultry farm workers. The project also aims to enhance the capacity of veterinary professionals and poultry farmers to detect and respond to bird flu outbreaks. The project's geographic focus is on high-risk areas, including major poultry production regions. The Veterinary Service Directorate has identified key stakeholders, including poultry farmers, veterinarians, and local authorities, to collaborate on the implementation of the project. The project's timeframe is approximately 12 months, with regular monitoring and evaluation to assess its effectiveness. The project's recommendations include the establishment of a national bird flu control program, the development of a comprehensive surveillance system, and the provision of training and capacity-building programs for poultry farmers and veterinary professionals. The project also emphasizes the importance of public awareness and education campaigns to promote behavioral change and reduce the risk of bird flu transmission.
