Abstract
The hub's primary objective is to improve energy access, security, and sustainability in the region. The EDGE Hub is a collaborative effort between USAID, the U.S. Department of State, and other regional stakeholders. The hub's technical services are focused on providing support to countries in Southeast Asia, including the Philippines, Timor-Leste, and Burma. In the Philippines, the EDGE Hub has been working with electric cooperatives to improve their operational efficiency and expand access to electricity. In Timor-Leste, the hub has been providing technical assistance to the government to develop a national energy policy. In Burma, the EDGE Hub has been working with the government to improve the country's energy sector governance. The EDGE Hub has also been conducting a webinar training series on energy sector topics, including energy efficiency, renewable energy, and energy access. The series has attracted participants from across Southeast Asia, with a total of 1,200 participants from 15 countries. The hub has also been working with the U.S. Government Asia EDGE – Energy Initiatives in Southeast Asia – Agency Level to map energy initiatives across the region. In terms of communications, outreach, and knowledge management, the EDGE Hub has been publishing a newsletter, the Southeast Asia EDGE Hub Newsletter, which provides updates on the hub's activities and achievements. The hub has also been engaging with external stakeholders, including private sector companies and civil society organizations, to promote energy sector development in the region. The EDGE Hub has also been conducting monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) activities to assess the impact of its programs and activities. The hub has been working with the MEL team to develop and implement a results framework, which outlines the hub's goals and objectives. The hub has also been conducting surveys and interviews to gather data on the impact of its programs and activities. In terms of challenges and solutions, the EDGE Hub has been facing challenges in terms of limited resources and capacity constraints. However, the hub has been working to address these challenges through partnerships with other organizations and stakeholders. The hub has also been identifying opportunities for collaboration and knowledge sharing with other regional initiatives. The EDGE Hub has also been planning for future activities, including the development of a new results framework and the implementation of new programs and activities. The hub has also been working to strengthen its partnerships with other regional stakeholders and to promote energy sector development in the region. The EDGE Hub has made significant progress in its first two years of operation, with a total of 1,200 participants from 15 countries attending the webinar training series. The hub has also been working with the U.S. Government Asia EDGE – Energy Initiatives in Southeast Asia – Agency Level to map energy initiatives across the region. The hub has also been conducting MEL activities to assess the impact of its programs and activities. In terms of results, the EDGE Hub has achieved a number of successes, including the development of a national energy policy in Timor-Leste and the improvement of operational efficiency in the Philippines. The hub has also been working to promote energy sector development in the region through partnerships with other regional stakeholders. The EDGE Hub has also been conducting a CLA event in December 2020, which brought together stakeholders from across the region to discuss energy sector development. The event was attended by 150 participants from 10 countries and provided a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration. In terms of private sector participation, the EDGE Hub has been working with private sector companies to promote energy sector development in the region. The hub has also been engaging with external stakeholders, including civil society organizations and government agencies, to promote energy sector development in the region.
