Abstract
The project is implemented by Advanced Engineering Associates International, Inc. (AEAI) and is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). One of the key objectives of the project is to support the development of initiatives and technologies that promote energy efficiency. To achieve this objective, the project has established a number of pilot projects in various locations across Bosnia and Herzegovina. These pilot projects aim to demonstrate the effectiveness of energy-efficient technologies and practices in reducing energy consumption and costs. In the sixteenth quarter of the project, significant progress was made in the implementation of the pilot projects. The construction permit for the Banja Luka Pilot Project was obtained, and all works are proceeding as planned. The Srebrenica EE Street Lighting Pilot Project was inaugurated, resulting in a 70% reduction in energy consumption and an annual cost reduction of 16,000 KM. The Bijeljina EE Street Lighting Pilot Project was also inaugurated, resulting in a 55% reduction in energy consumption and an annual cost reduction of 16,300 KM. In addition to the pilot projects, the project has also made progress in other areas. The EE Info Center in Tuzla was completed, and two educational trainings were held for candidates for the position of EE advisors in the EE Info Center. The EE Info Center is scheduled to be opened on April 3, 2014. The project has also started activities for the Closeout event, which is scheduled to be held on Jahorina, April 23-24, 2014. The project has also made progress in promoting energy efficiency through public awareness and education. A series of seven thematic episodes on different energy efficiency measures and the use of renewable energy was filmed by RTV TK. The episodes covered topics such as promoting the use of biomass in conjunction with sustainable forest management, energy-efficient LED lighting, building insulation, and gas boilers. A total of 4,525 students attended the "Think of Tomorrow" school classes in 80 primary schools in Tuzla Canton. The project has also made progress in supporting the development of initiatives and technologies that promote energy efficiency. The project has completed three solicitations and selected the best bidders for a study on energy savings through the management of street lighting in Doboj Istok Municipality, a "Turn Key" project for systems for remote reading of consumption in Tuzla and Bihac, and technical assistance for the organization of the USAID 3E Closeout Event and Multimedia Exhibition. Two energy management workshops were held in Srebrenik and Zivinice in this period. Overall, the Enterprise Energy Efficiency (3E) project in Bosnia and Herzegovina has made significant progress in promoting energy efficiency and reducing energy consumption in the country. The project has demonstrated the effectiveness of energy-efficient technologies and practices in reducing energy consumption and costs, and has promoted public awareness and education on energy efficiency.
