Abstract
The approved projects include the reconstruction of Mostar High School "Gimnazija," Suisse Caritas's 20 individual homes, and Tuzla Elementary School "Pazar." USAID 3E signed Letters of Commitment with Suisse Caritas, UNDP, and Tuzla Municipality for the reconstruction of the individual homes and the elementary school. Numerous site visits were conducted in the Sarajevo and Tuzla region, Gradiška, Banja Luka, Livno, Bihać, Cazin, Gračanica, and others. USAID 3E made presentations in two GIZ workshops in Zenica and Prijedor, focusing on the Monitoring and Verification System implemented at the Mechanical Engineering Faculty in Sarajevo. The organization of the International Symposium "ENERGA" in Tuzla from June 21 to June 25, 2011, was also supported by USAID 3E. The symposium featured a joint pilot project with the Tuzla Municipality for energy efficiency improvement of the Elementary School "Pazar." Task Objective 1 of the project aimed to support the development of initiatives and technologies. Meetings were held with the Mayor of Trebinje to discuss a pilot project proposal for LED street lighting, and with a Hilfswerk representative to discuss a project proposal for co-financing the construction of low-income housing in Rogatica. Batch 1 Pilot Project Proposals were officially submitted and approved by USAID, with three EE pilot projects approved for implementation: Mostar High School "Gimnazija," Suisse Caritas's 20 individual homes, and Tuzla Elementary School "Pazar." Pilot project site visits were conducted in the Sarajevo and Tuzla region, including visits to 20 houses proposed by Suisse Caritas for thermal insulation. The houses are single- or multi-family homes owned by mid- and low-income families, equipped with coal/wood fired furnaces. Site visits were also conducted at the City of Banja Luka administrative building and the "Lepa Radic" Kindergarten in Gradiska to discuss pilot project proposals submitted to UNDP. The project's progress was also marked by meetings with various stakeholders, including the Japanese Embassy, which expressed interest in the Pilot Project - Elementary School Building "Branko Ćopić" in Prijedor. USAID 3E agreed to provide information on the project, with the Embassy interested in the boiler work to fit into its environmental area of interest.
