Abstract
It emphasizes the importance of building skills, assets, and competencies, as well as fostering healthy relationships and strengthening the environment. PYD approaches aim to empower young people to reach their full potential and become productive, healthy adults. The YouthPower2: Learning and Evaluation (YP2LE) activity is a five-year initiative designed to build, disseminate, and promote PYD evidence and best practices. The activity provides rapid response and technical assistance support to USAID staff and partners to incorporate PYD evidence and best practices into the design, implementation, and evaluation of youth development programs. The YP2LE embedded learning plan is a critical piece of the adaptive management process used to inform learning on the activity and improve performance. The plan includes a mixed-methods study that applied two surveys, key informant interviews, and focus group discussions with various stakeholders. The study aimed to answer embedded learning questions and provide feedback that contributed to the YP2LE Year 3 workplan. The methodology used in the study included the application of two surveys, a Website Satisfaction survey and a learning network member Use and Utility survey. Key informant interviews and focus group discussions were also conducted with various YP2LE stakeholders. An analysis of the indicator tracking table (ITT) was performed to guide data analysis. The study found that YP2LE activities are contributing to satisfaction, learning, behavior change, and results. The results showed that YP2LE's learning network is vibrant and growing, with a significant increase in traditional and non-traditional partners collaborating, disseminating, and improving PYD best practices. The study also found that YP2LE's platforms, including YouthPower.org and YouthLead.org, are increasing the number of stakeholders informed by evidence, data, and data on PYD. Recommendations for formative improvements and potential activities to be incorporated into the Year 3 workplan include increasing the number of stakeholders informed by evidence, data, and data on PYD, and improving the dissemination and use of YP2LE products. The study also suggests that YP2LE should improve the function of discussion groups and provide more opportunities for youth engagement in dissemination efforts. The study concludes that YP2LE's activities are contributing to the growth and development of young people, and that the activity is making progress towards its medium- and long-term goals. The study provides feedback that will be used to inform the YP2LE Year 3 workplan and improve performance. The YP2LE activity is divided into four tasks: Task 1 advances the PYD learning agenda and other youth-related learning, Task 2 grows the PYD learning network, Task 3 enhances the YouthPower.org and YouthLead.org platforms, and Task 4 provides rapid response technical support through buys. The activity is designed to build, disseminate, and promote PYD evidence and best practices, and to provide rapid response and technical assistance support to USAID staff and partners. The study's findings and recommendations will be used to inform the YP2LE Year 3 workplan and improve performance. The study provides feedback that will be used to make formative improvements and incorporate potential activities that will contribute to the growth and development of young people.
