Abstract
This funding was allocated to address urgent needs in the region, including food, clean water, basic commodities, healthcare, and shelter protection. USAID drew from these funds to deliver assistance to the affected population. As of November 4, 2014, USAID reported providing assistance to a significant number of beneficiaries. The agency delivered essential items such as mattresses, pillows, blankets, and plastic sheeting for emergency shelter needs. Medical supplies, including fuel for hospitals and health clinics, medical kits, and equipment, were also provided. In addition, an emergency medical team was deployed to serve in a hospital in Gaza. USAID also focused on providing basic necessities, including family hygiene kits, school bags, and liquid soap. The agency delivered a substantial amount of fuel to water facilities, enabling the production of potable water. A total of 10.9 million liters of potable water were distributed, along with 325,720 1.5-liter water bottles and 20 water bladders carrying 10,000 liters each. Food assistance was a critical component of the humanitarian response. USAID delivered multi-week family food packages, wheat flour, ultra-high temperature milk, canned peas, canned tuna, canned meat, and biscuits. These food items were distributed to support the nutritional needs of the affected population. The humanitarian assistance provided by the United States through USAID had a significant impact on the lives of those affected by the crisis in Gaza. The agency's efforts helped to alleviate suffering, provide essential services, and support the recovery of the affected population.
