Abstract
The product is to be used as a complement to breastfeeding, and it is not a breast-milk replacer. Super Cereal Plus is prepared from heat-treated corn and de-hulled soybeans, nonfat dry milk, refined soybean oil, vitamins, and minerals. The main ingredients of Super Cereal Plus include corn of the type No. 2 or better, de-hulled soybeans with a minimum of 85 percent hull removal, sugar, nonfat dry milk, refined soybean oil, and micronutrient premixes. The corn must be tested for aflatoxin and meet specific requirements for aflatoxin levels. The soybeans must be stored under dry, ventilated, and hygienic conditions, and only safe insecticides may be used for fumigation control. The formula for Super Cereal Plus consists of 58.17 percent corn, 20 percent de-hulled soybeans, 8 percent dried skim milk powder, 9 percent sugar, 3 percent refined soybean oil, and 0.40 percent vitamin/mineral premix. The product must be processed under high-temperature short-time (HTST) heat treatment conditions to improve the pre-gelatinization of starches and digestibility of proteins. The product specifications for Super Cereal Plus include a moisture content of 7 percent maximum, a nutritional value of 410 kcal minimum per 100g dry matter, and a variation in food specifications that shall not exceed minus five percent of the specified value using standard analytical techniques. The product must be fortified to provide a target micronutrient supplement per 100g of finished product, including vitamins A, D, E, K, B1, B2, B6, C, and B12, as well as minerals such as iron, zinc, and iodine. The processing of Super Cereal Plus involves the use of a mixing system with a Coefficient of Variation of 10 percent to ensure homogeneity of micronutrients. The product must be stored in a dry, cool, and clean place where the temperature is a maximum of 25°C. The supplier must provide a complete Certificate of Analysis and proof of purchase of premixes to the processor of Super Cereal Plus. The nutritional value of Super Cereal Plus per 100g dry matter includes energy, protein, fat, crude fiber, and ash. The product must meet specific requirements for protein, fat, and other nutrients to ensure its quality and safety for consumption by young children. The variation in food specifications for Super Cereal Plus must not exceed minus five percent of the specified value using standard analytical techniques. The micronutrient premixes used in Super Cereal Plus must be adjusted to account for intrinsic properties of the components, and the product must be fortified to provide a target micronutrient supplement per 100g of finished product. The supplier must provide a complete Certificate of Analysis and proof of purchase of premixes to the processor of Super Cereal Plus. The supplier of Super Cereal Plus must comply with all relevant national food laws and standards, and the product must meet specific requirements for protein, fat, and other nutrients to ensure its quality and safety for consumption by young children. The variation in food specifications for Super Cereal Plus must not exceed minus five percent of the specified value using standard analytical techniques.
